presentation
Summary
This is my presentation for my final major project showing the theme, idea, research, sketches, step by step and peer feedback from 2 people.
Overall I think my presentation went well I but the basics on the power point and expanded on what it said when I was presenting my idea and design

Pre production sketches.
Before we had to start the project I had a vague idea of what I was going to do. I was originally going to just do a graphical image of an Angel and a Devil.

(Shown below)

Over half term I thought over my Ideas I decided that my idea was to simple and need detail added to it. With that in mind I thought of Multiple Ideas, and there where two that stud out the most for me.
The 1st idea was to have the devils on the opposing side of the angel and in the middle there will be a pair of eyes with hands near them almost like there trying to cover them. This was meant to represent someone hiding from there different personality and emotions around people.(shown below)
The 2nd Idea was quite similar to the first but instead of eyes there was the scale of judgement in the center with the angle floating near the right scale and the devil on the left. The scale with the devil would be filled with money and expensive food flowing over, to represent greed and gluttony. On the Angels side there would be Hearts with sun rays coming off them, this would represent love,Passion, happiness, and hope.(Shown below)
I had decided I would use one of these ideas but I didn't know which one, I had decided to think about it over the rest of the holidays. During the holidays I couldn't think of which on to chose so I distracted myself by watching the TV show Gravity Falls, a show full of mystery, secrets and codes and likable characters. This made me ditch both my original ideas and change it again, I also ditched the first Idea because I found it difficult to draw hands.
The Idea I had decided on finally. I still included the angel and devil on opposing sides but I had decided I would do it as a film poster. The tile and quotes would be coded with the code to solve the puzzle next to it but faded. I decided the title would be in the top center with a subtitle under it, the quotes I used where The 1st law of equivalent exchange and a bit of a quote from the character Bill Cipher from the show Gravity Falls. There was also the all seeing eye in the center. (Shown Below)
I then decided I would turn the poster into a double sided poster with the answers for the coded side on the back the poster would be near identical besides that the coded bits where decoded.
(shown below)
The reason my idea changed was because I enjoyed the idea of mystery, secrets and codes. I went and looked more into it because it was so interesting I learned about codes that have the world develop like the Rosetta stone helping with hieroglyphs, and the enigma machine helping decipher the Germans codes in the war.

Evaluation
The assignment brief was to use the knowledge and skills we had gained through the course to make the best piece of work we could our final major project.I chose to do a graphical piece based on a poster for a made up film about mystery and codes, I made the poster a double sided poster. I did primary and secondary, Primary research is where you gather information yourself through questions and surveys, and secondary research is when you gather information that already exists from websites and books. I did some primary research on survey monkey A site where you can make surveys, and it gives you a website link that you can post to social media sites for people to complete. I put mine on a group page on Facebook for people from the age 12+.
https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/N8Z2DZL
The subjects I looked at for my research was the TV show gravity falls which was heavily based on mystery codes and secrets with codes at the end of each episodes for people to decipher. I also looked into real life codes that have helped the world develop like the Rosetta stone which helped us solve the hieroglyphs, and the enigma Machine which helped us solve the codes the Nazi where sending between each other in the second world war.

I also looked at a book full of Gig posters that people had designed, I liked the artists Brad Klausen,Jamie Ward, and Tim Gough, I chose the first two artists because the design was unique and the fact they had an eye in them which was something I was planing on having somewhere in my work, Jamie Wards work had the big eye in the center just like Brad Klausen but there was also smaller eyes(shaped like the all seeing eye) hidden within the work. The reason I chose Tim Gough picture was because how they made the skull pop out of the cabinet like pixel art.
Brad Klausen
Jamie Ward
Tim Gough
I also did research on different ciphers like the ceaser cipher, The A1Z26 cipher, and Atbash cipher
ceaser cipher
Atbash cipher

The second side of the poster is exactly the same except the codes are deciphered so you can read what it says (shown below)

I chose the colours because they suited the design red for the devil white and grey for an angel, Yellow for a pyramid and green for its eye because it looks mysterious almost like the eye is glowing. And the background colours are white, blue and grey, I chose these colours because the grey looks like its trying to cover up the blue and white like a clouds in the sky or fog on the streets. For the title and subtitle I used a font from dafont called black arrow.
I designed the poster using the scanner and scanning pictures from my sketchpad. I put the scanned images on to Photoshop and used my drawing pad to add detail to the drawings and add the rest that I couldn't scan. The tools I used on Photoshop where the paintbrush tool which I would adjust the the hardness so the opacity was lighter so I could make parts look shaded and so bits would stand out and not just disappear under the layer. I also used the pencil tool to draw the rest. I used the text box to add the codes In. The title and subtitle I used a font from dafont called black arrow.
I have been able to develop my drawing skills by hand and on Photoshop, I think this is because the poster was heavily base on drawing and for it to look good I would have to be able to draw well.
I am extremely happy with my poster It's the best I could do with my skill and I am impressed at the beginning of this course I wouldn't of dared drawn a poster yet alone draw because I couldn't. So I'm really proud of this. I was also able to put things I enjoy doing into it like codes because I love solving puzzles.
I think I did well with my time management I struggled a bit at the beginning of the work because of the research we had to do and I found that a bit boring, but once I got it done I was able to stick to the schedule and finish on time.
I think if I had to redo this I think I would develop my drawing skills more so I would be able to put more detail into the work, but besides from that I'm okay with it as it is.
I had a few problems with the making of my poster like my work deleting itself, which would make me panic, but I would remember I saved it each time I added a major part to the poster I also backed it up on my hard drive for safety as well. My graphics tablet also wouldn't connect to one of the computers so I had to move to a computer that it worked on.
My target audience is for 12 years and plus, and for people who like puzzles and mystery's I chose this age boundary because most people that age go on adventures and find things that are intriguing and mysterious
Peer Feedback
1)The overall design and idea of the poster is very good and well thought out , I like the themes incorporated into it and the idea of decoding the title.
2) Could add more background aspects such as flames or sun rays etc
1)i like the creative designs on the the characters but i also like the fact that there are codes which you can try and solve which makes you spend more time looking at the poster
2) the Illuminati triangle looks rushed and missing bricks

My final project was a double sided film poster. The first side had the title in a code with the subtitle Decipher the code (next to the title there is also a faded word which says ceaser telling you the code to use to decipher the title. There was a devil on the left and a angel on the right,in the mid bottom I put the all seeing eye (one of the worlds greatest mystery's.) Under the Devil I put the catch phrase of the antagonist from the show Gravity falls Bill cipher which I put into the A1Z26 cipher. Under the angel I put the first law of alchemy but I put it in the Atbash code.I put the code that I used near the cipher it went with but faded it so it wasn't obvious. ( shown below)

Survey monkey
https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/N8Z2DZL
Look at your results, what do they say? The results showed that my poster should have hidden secrets, puzzles, the all seeing eye, and that it should be a double sided poster
What type of
research did you do? The information I gathered using survey monkey was primary research on how to do my 'film' poster.
What type of
information did you gather? I gathered quantitative information because I find it easier to use and put into a graph, and analyse
Who was your
target audience?, Why? My target audience is PG (I posted the survey onto a Facebook group which had an age variety from 11-20 on it) and people who like mysteries and codes. I chose this audience because I feel like there are some people who like mysteries and solving puzzles like codes and over things like that.
How could this information
help improve your poster?
This information could help me improve my poster because it told me what people thought of the idea and what they knew about the codes I was using and how I should display the hints on the poster.
Below give a
summary of your results: (remember if you have ten responses that means each
answer is worth 10% of your overall feedback.)
The first question of what do you think of codes and secrets in games. The majority of the people(71.43%) like codes and secrets.
The second question was if they had heard of the codes specified. some people heard the ceaser cipher and some heard of all of them but the majority(57.14%) hadn't heard of any of them.
The third question was do you like hidden secrets(85.71%) liked hidden secrets.
The fourth question was do you like solving puzzles (71.43%)like solving puzzles
The fifth question was have you heard of the all seeing eye (71.43%) had heard of it.
The last question was what do you think to a double sided poster (71.43%) people liked the idea.
Look at your results, what do they say? The results showed that my poster should have hidden secrets, puzzles, the all seeing eye, and that it should be a double sided poster
How will you
present this information?: I will present the results I got on my survey by putting the results on my blogger and will also present it on a power point.
Final project step by step
final project step 2: I added the angel drawing into the right corner so it was on the opposing side of the devil.
final project side 1 step 1: This is the first side of the poster that is coded. I added the title in code (Ceaser Cipher) with the hint decipher the code. I use the font Black arrow from dafont.
final project side 1 step 3: I then added a bit a a phrase from the show gravity falls in the Atbash code.
final project side 1 completed I then made different layers and randomly colored them grey and blue and white.
final project side 2 completed Side two went through the same processes of side 1 but everything that is coded is decoded and in English.Tuesday, 26 April 2016
Fonts I could use

I decided to use Black Arrow because of how it looked jagged and different then usual
