Step by step Angel

I first started off by taking the sketch I did in my sketch book and scanning it onto the computer so I could go over it. I then put the image I scanned onto Photo shop and hooked my graphics tablet up so I could go over the outline of the sketch and to make it easier so its felt like I was still drawing on paper. I also made different layers for each part for example the halo, is on a separate layer then one wing which is on a different layer form the other wing

Step 1: I drew around the outline of one of the wings, the halo, the body and some of the facial features.

Step 2: I finished the facial features and did the outline for the other wing.

Step 3 I then went onto add the details to the wings by adding the feathers which I used the idea of broken glass shards to look like the feathers. I made the outline for the feathers lighter then the outline because i didn't want them to look to similar and merge, and not look like the wing was curved.

Step 4: Colored the halo in a gold yellow with lighter yellow to show a shine.

Step 5: I changed the opacity of the brush so it wasn't a solid color and you could still see the outline of  the feathers and made the paint grey. after doing this I colored over the wings which allowed you to still see the outline, I went over over bits of the wing so it looked darker and would show depth and more detail.

Step 6: Colored the eyes with a blue that stands out and is bright so it was the part of the image that stood out the most.
